साथै उद्धार, राहत तथा पुनर्स्थापनाको कार्यमा सहयोग गर्न दुई लाख अमेरिकन डलर सहायता प्रदान गर्ने निर्णय पनि गरेको छ । परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयले आइतबार विज्ञप्तीमार्फत यो जानकारी दिएको हो । द्विपक्षीय नातासम्बन्धको आत्मीय भावनाका आधारमा, यस कठिन घडीमा नेपाल सरकारले श्रीलंकासँग दृढतापूर्वक उभिएको उल्लेख गरेको छ । नेपाल सरकारले दिवंगतको परिवारजनप्रति श्रद्धाञ्जली तथा समवेदना प्रकट गर्दै घाइतेको शीघ्र र पूर्णस्वास्थ्यलाभको कामना गरेको छ । यस दुःखद् घटनाबाट पुनः उठ्ने क्रममा श्रीलंका जनताको अदम्य साहस, शक्ति र धैर्यतामा नेपाल सरकार तथा नेपाली जनता दृढ विश्वस्त रहेको विज्ञप्तीमा उल्लेख छ ।
श्रीलंकामा ‘दितवा’ नामको तूफानका कारण भिषण वर्षासँगै आएको बाढीपहिरोबाट कम्तिमा १३२ जनाको मृत्यु भएको छ । १७६ जना बेपत्ता छन् । यो प्राकृतिक विपत्तीपछि राष्ट्रपति अनुरा कुमारा दिशानायकेले आपतकाल घोषणा गर्दै अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय समुदायसँग सहयोग मागेका छन् । साथै श्रीलंका सरकारले विदेशमा रहेका आफ्ना नागरिकहरुलाई स्वदेश पैसा पठाउन आह्वान गरेको छ ।
